LeMay Bullpup Conversion Kit — FAQs
Go compact. Stay AR-adjacent.
100% Veteran-Owned. Veteran-Designed.
AR Force Arms is a 100% veteran-owned company. The LeMay kit was designed by U.S. military veterans to prioritize reliability, serviceability, and real-world handling—without gimmicks.
What is the LeMay kit?
The LeMay is a bullpup conversion chassis for AR-15s that relocates the grip and trigger forward, delivering a shorter, rear-balanced package while keeping an AR-adjacent control layout. It is not a serialized receiver or firearm.
LeMay is patent pending.
- Complete conversion in the box: a true bullpup kit without chasing add-ons for standard installs.
- Materials: Nylon Polymer body, steel fasteners, Delrin guide rods, and laser-cut 5052 aluminum bars in the trigger linkage.
Do I need an FFL to buy it?
No. LeMay is a non-serialized accessory and ships directly to your door in the U.S.
Manual of arms note
LeMay maintains an AR-adjacent manual of arms. Core functions are familiar, but control positions and ergonomics change slightly due to bullpup geometry. Train accordingly.
What makes LeMay different?
- Controls & ergonomics: Ambidextrous magazine release buttons, an ergonomic trigger-finger rest, and both curved and flat ergonomic forward trigger shoes included.
- Integrated spare magazine carrier.
- Included cheek rest.
- Included adjustable buttpad.
- 1911-style trigger linkage.
Upper compatibility (no extra adapters required)
Choose your buttpad on the Store page based on your upper and charging style.
- Bufferless uppers: Foxtrot Mike FM-15, PSA JAKL, Brownells BRN-180, CMMG Dissent
- Bufferless BCG kits: Law Tactical ARIC, Evolution Weapon Systems
- Dead Foot Arms 2.5″ (Rear-charging)
Lower receiver compatibility
Fits: forged mil-spec pattern lowers and most billet lowers. May not fit: oversize/flared magwells and integrated/oversized trigger guards.
Trigger compatibility & options (IMPORTANT)
Your AR’s rear trigger must be CURVED. Flat-faced rear triggers are not compatible with the LeMay interface.
- Forward (front) trigger shoe: both curved and flat ergonomic shoes are included—use whichever you prefer up front.
- Linkage design: Direct-impact, 1911-style mechanism using laser-cut 5052 aluminum bars (unbent, geometrically interlocking) stabilized by Delrin rods. We chose this approach because the 1911 is widely regarded as having one of the best trigger designs in firearms.
- Reset spring: adds approximately +1 lb to pull weight.
Will this scratch my gun?
No. The linkage runs with built-in clearance along the outside of the lower receiver, so it does not contact your finish.
- Clip-on protection: We include two plastic clips that fasten to the trigger bars to keep them stand-off from the lower and prevent contact.
- Adhesive wear shields (optional): We also include two pieces of ultra-high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMW-PE) adhesive tape you can apply to the lower where the bars run if you want extra insurance.
This provides extra-extra scratch prevention on top of the existing clearance.
Mounting (M-LOK & KeyMod)
Direct mount—no upper adapters. LeMay attaches to your handguard using our bracket and locks in place with a paired-pin bar.
- Install the LeMay mounting bracket to your M-LOK or KeyMod handguard.
- Slide the forward housing around the bracket.
- Insert the paired-pin locking bar until it snaps locked; geometric fasteners retain the assembly.
What parts do I need besides the kit?
Compatible upper; AR-15 lower (see fit); a curved AR trigger; an M-LOK or KeyMod handguard of at least 6.5″; optics/muzzle device as desired. Hardware and manual are included; tools are not included. You’ll need 2 mm, 3 mm, and 1/4″ hex (Allen) keys.
Included components: cheek rest, selected buttpad module, rear safety selector plug, mounting hardware.
Calibers & magazines
Use what your upper/lower support (e.g., 5.56, .300 BLK, 7.62×39, 9mm, etc.). Compatible with mil-spec profile stick magazines.
OAL & compliance
Bullpup geometry reduces firearm OAL relative to same-barrel traditional rifles. With a 16″ barrel installed, a LeMay-equipped AR rifle has an overall length greater than 26″. The LeMay kit does not convert AR rifles into SBRs. You are responsible for federal/state/local compliance (rifle, pistol, SBR, OAL, barrel length, etc.).
Dimensions & Fit Specs
- Kit overall length (chassis only, with buttpad module; not firearm OAL)
- 16¼″ (16.25″) buttpad collapsed
- 16⅞″ (16.875″) intermediate setting
- 17½″ (17.50″) buttpad extended
- Length of Pull (installed)
- 14¾″ (14.75″) buttpad collapsed — non-spare magazine receiver config
- 15⅜″ (15.375″) intermediate setting — corresponds to 16⅞″ kit OAL
- 16.00″ buttpad extended — spare magazine receiver config
- Minimum handguard length (M-LOK/KeyMod): 6.5″
Installation & maintenance
- Install: KeyMod or M-LOK bracket → housing lock with paired-pin bar → set actuator to your curved rear trigger.
- Maintain: Linkage requires no lubrication; keep it clean and dry. Follow your upper’s cleaning/lube guidance; torque-check steel fasteners periodically.
- Optional threadlocker: If any kit fastener loosens with use, apply a removable, medium-strength threadlocker (e.g., blue) to clean, dry threads and re-torque. Avoid permanent/high-strength compounds on parts that require regular disassembly.
Warranty & support
